Constitution Day is September 17th! This the perfect project!
The Common Core has put an emphasis on informational reading and writing in every grade. Teaching students to organize informational writing using informational books and text can be a challenge.
Am I alone or do all students just LOVE using sticky notes?! In this lesson students will research about the Constitution, take notes using sticky notes and turn their notes into a report with illustrations and text features.
The writing pages will help keep writers organized!
The lesson includes:
Report Table of Contents for Students
Cover (2 versions)
Two types of final draft papers:
Pages broken up by subtitle with room for student illustrations
Pages for not broken up by subtitle with room for student illustrations
Timeline fill-in page
Student reflection page
Partner share and reflection page
They will love the process while learning about the Constitution, note-taking, text features and report writing! Perfect for informational text reading or writing unit or a Constitution unit.
