For homework during my US history units, I like to give students a chance to focus on the subjects they are interested in and give them choice in what kind of assignment they would like to do. I came up with weekly assignments for each unit I did, and am very happy with them.
Included is 4 weeks of assignments on the Constitution, each with 3 different options. Not only can they choose an area they found interesting, but each week gives them a variety of ways to express it: including individual research, art, acting, and an interpretive dance (Although only one group of kids chose this, it was probably the highlight of my year).
I found that students were more likely to complete them. Additionally, I found them much more enjoyable to grade than the usual 120 of the same assignment. I hope you enjoy!
