This is for a WHOLE unit on The Constitution. I sell many of the items individually (see my store to see examples of the assignments that you would be purchasing), however, this is a highly discounted price since it is a large bundle. Make sure you do not purchase my Power Point or other items separately because the same PowerPoint and assignments are posted here are well.
This is for more of the overview of the Constitution, not super in-depth, but does hit all the main concepts.
There is a 2 page Unit Plan where I have typed up how I would teach the unit with each item. This allows for 15 days (3 weeks) of 50 minute class period. You could make this shorter or longer depending on what assignments you use. There are 3 projects and this allows for one project to be used. There are some assignments that could be cut out or may need more time. Depending on your student's ability levels you will have to adjust.
This unit covers the following topics:
Articles of Confederation (why they did not work)
New Jersey Plan
Checks and Balances
3 Branches (Covers Terms in office, etc)
Bill of Rights (goes over each one)
Amendment (what is it)
I have used this with Middle and High school students and it works great for both levels, though this does not got super into detail, it is great to teach the main concepts. This would not be for an AP class or Honors High School class since it just touches the concepts. I use this in my US History class to explain the basic Constitution/Bill of Rights/3 Branches of Government.
You will get the following items:
2 Power Points on the Constitution ( I have included 2 Power Points, one is a bit more basic (I use of co-teach and ELL classes) than the other, so depending on your level of students you can use either- one is label #1 and the other labeled #2)
Notes that go along with the PowerPoint- These are guided notes the students can fill in as you go along the PPT (there is a set for each Power Point)
Tests (3 Versions)
Bill of Rights Assignment (There is 2 different assignments to vary for each child/class depending on ability level)
Constitution Vocabulary (10 words)
Constitution Homework Sheet
Election Portfolio Project
Meet the President Assignment (reading and questions)
Election Power Point (this is for a generic presiential election and you can add the canidates)
Government Hat Rack Group Project
Branches of Government Group Project
My Family Constitution Assignment
Branches of Government Fill in Chart
Primary Source: Read the Constitution and answer questions (Constitution is provided)
3 Branches of Government Tree Assignment
Who's Who and What's What of the Constitution/Government
I have used this unit many, many times and have GREAT success with student’s retention of material on these basic concepts.
