Students are engaged when they are having fun. This activity is designed to be a fun way to explore the issues and ideas behind the writing of the constitution of the United. In this simulation activity students will work together to write their own constitution. Students will explore the same issues that at times confounded the founding fathers.

Each student will be assigned a composite character whose job it will be to help write a new constitution.

Students will explore
The role that compromise played in writing the new constitution
Constitutional issues such as (Representation, Slavery, The Legislative, Executive and Judicial Branches)
The issue of states rights vs. federal authority
The role that compromise played during the writing of the constitution
Political, economic and social motivation behind the writing of the constitution.
