I use this lesson with the middle school ecology standard MS-LS2-4 Construct an argument supported by empirical evidence that changes to physical or biological components of an ecosystem affect populations.
However, it can be easily applied for any lesson involving data interpretation and argument construction in science.
Includes a three page student worksheet that follows the presentation and includes many chances for students to practice and reflect on their skills.
The presentation goes through the steps of developing an argument and what should be considered and included in this process. There are multiple opportunities for grouping and higher order thinking depending on how you decide to set it up!
