On this work sheet, there are 8 generic constructed responses that students may see on the EOC. These responses evoke conversation, can be used with any text, and allow students to break down every component they should have learned by the end of English II. In the past, I have used them in review, both by blowing each question up poster-board size, or by allowing students to grapple with them independently. (I.e.: Describe how the author uses language to develop the tone. Students then break down what "language" means to be figurative and literal. Then the explain tone comes from connotation, denotation, and diction. Finally they show the "development" by pulling textual evidence from the beginning and end of text).
