Middle School and High School students are required to answer higher level questions with supporting evidence. This can be a difficult process to teach and learn. As an SLP, my students were struggling with the language/vocabulary used in instruction and even more in following the process. I created color coded step-by-step instructions with a glossary, middle school and high school examples, a template for the beginning stages of creating a response, and an evidence chart for an additional method to collect and organize the elements of a constructed response. Here you will find the evidence chart. My students who used it, increased their independence, grades, and understanding of a high level response.
