Honor 9 influential, African-American Heroes during Black History Month, or anytime of the year, with these Biographical Constructed Response Questions Passages. This unit helps give students practice with writing quality responses to constructed response and extended response questions using text evidence with biographies on 9 common, and not so common, African-American Heroes. This is perfect test prep practice during the winter and spring!

NOTE: This is the PRINTABLE version of my digital Black History Month Reading Comprehension Constructed Response Passages

Each passage comes with coordinating questions, using text evidence in responses, aligned with Common Core standards for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The passages challenge students to interact with rigorous, but interesting and relevant, text. This is the perfect resource, during February for Black History Month, or at anytime, to help you prepare your students for the upcoming state tests like PARCC and SBAC, while still providing meaningful instruction not focused on test-prep.
