Description
Looking for an easy way to provide your students with constructed response writing practice? These no-prep printable pages are the perfect supplement to combine with the reading passages that you already use to help your students develop and improve their ability to cite & explain how text evidence supports their thinking!
These Show Your Thinking® pages can be combined with any reading comprehension passage to provide your students with differentiated short constructed response practice. Supplementing your passages with these activity sheets turns any multiple choice question into a constructed response prompt. As your students complete these activities they will be writing to learn as they learn to write. They first analyze the question as they develop their answers. Then they will identify supportive text evidence. Finally they explain how this text evidence support their answers. The purpose of this routine is to guide and support students as they identify and analyze textual evidence that supports their thinking. Their answers, conclusions and inferences will be tested through the writing process as they practice planning and writing short constructed responses.
Often when a student answers a multiple choice question, it can be challenging to determine why they chose the response they did. These completed response pages will give you the opportunity to analyze student thinking and identify their strengths and weaknesses. This data can then be used to guide further instruction and practice.
