Product Description
This complete, step-by-step pedigree activity describes pedigrees, their symbols and then directs students to create and interpret a pedigree using a fun example with a multi-cultural family whose names all begin with the letter “D”. Students will then apply their knowledge to analyze an unknown pedigree and predict if the inheritance is autosomal recessive, autosomal dominant, or X-Linked recessive.

If students have only learned Mendelian genetics, this activity can be done in two parts. If they have completed non-Mendelian genetics, this is a great synthesis activity that will reveal student’s understanding and can also serve as a formative assessment.
