This is a great resource to help you with a construction day classroom transformation! You still need to buy additional things but they are VERY cheap and affordable. I had most of the things laying around my classroom but I did buy the following: pvc pipe and t's, legos, toolboxes from the dollar tree, builder hats, tablecloths and cones from the dollar tree.
There are 6 different stations you can set up for the room and have the kids work in groups to compete for the most bricks in their house. You could have the students build a house at the end using all the pages they completed if time allotted.
This resource includes: task cards for station 1 (building sentences), station 4 (cvc words), station 5 (hammer it out) The other stations are more manipulative based and need the materials for the students to sort out what they create on their own.
This resource also includes all the ideas and set up process for these stations. It also includes the brick recording page and direction signs for each station.
Station 1: building sentences: students unscramble words on cards into sentences.
Station 2: Student build words out of blends using pvc pipe.
Station 3: students build words using vowel teams on legos.
station 4: Students pull bricks for jenga and then pull cards based on color to decide if it is real or nonsense.
Station 5: Students pull a card and hammer it out while spelling it and decide if it is real or nonsense.
Station 6: Students unlock tool boxes to find the correct compound word.
Station 7: (optional) Brain break/coloring station
