I love this activity because of the engagement that QR codes can add to the lesson. You can put the organisms around the room to get students up and moving!
In this activity students practice identifying producers and consumers. QR codes are used to check their choices. When students finish identifying the organisms they are asked to add their own!
It is a great activity for science stations because students can work independently or in groups during this practice and self check their work.
TEKS:2.9a identify the basic needs of plants and animals;
5.9b (B) describe how the flow of energy derived from the Sun, used by producers to create their own food, is transferred through a food chain and food web to consumers and decomposers;
2-LS4-1.Make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats.
The teacher can use the bottom as an assessment when students begin to come up with their own examples using their knowledge gained from the activity.
