Students will learn three well known constellations by reading about them and drawing them together. Students will ultimately draw and identify these constellations using pens that glow. At the end of the lesson turn off the lights and students will see their constellations. The teacher will need to create dot-to-dot handouts by drawing, Orion, The Big Dipper, and The Little Dipper on a piece of paper divided into thirds. You can also demonstrate and have students follow your direction and make their own dots with a pencil. You will need glow-in-the-dark pens. Fabric stores generally carry these. Groups of students can share them.
