This lesson incorporates literacy into the high school art room. Students work together in small groups to research a contemporary artist of their choice. Their goal is to create a presentation and then teach the class about their chosen artist. I use this lesson as one of my big final projects for my Studio Art classes. Students are held accountable to their research because they need to be the teacher for the day and present their findings to the class. I chose contemporary art as the theme because it's often very exciting for the students to research, and it's usually something they have never seen before.
