This activity can be used to help students learn new vocabulary while practicing thier context clue skills. It gives the student a list of sentences using challenging vocabulary and then, offers a space for them to make a guess about what the word means. It is fun to assign this as individual work first, but then to allow students to form groups and discuss which defintion fits the word with the context clues they best. You can have the groups compete to see which group came up with the most accurate defintion. I also enjoy giving out puzzles after they complete this to assess if they remember the definition or not without the help of context clues.
