Most context clues activities require students to define unfamiliar words based on the surrounding words in a sentence. After tiring out many of these options, I thought, "Why don't the students make their own context clues?" This way, they are learning the definitions of new vocabulary words, along with how to use them correctly in a sentence. When using this as a group activity, I have my students read their sentences to each other to see if their peers can figure out the meanings of the new words based on the sentences. Enjoy!
