Description

Context Clues: Teach five types of context clues with this engaging activity! The five types include synonyms, antonyms, definition, inference, and examples.

Your students will read 10 sentences and determine the type of context clue the author provided to help readers understand the meaning of the underlined word. Students will also highlight the words within each sentence that helped them determine the meaning. Finally, students will write the meaning of the underlined word.

This product is differentiated so that it is appropriate for use in multiple grade levels. There is an easier version for younger students or students who have limited language proficiency. There is also a more challenging version (with ten different, more challenging sentences) for older students. (Therefore, this product contains 20 practice sentences!)

There is also a complete direction page (with photos) that you can place under your doc camera so that students can refer to the directions as they complete and assemble the project.

I encourage you to take a peek at the preview!!

This activity is also available in a digital format. If you are interested in viewing the DIGITAL VERSION OF THIS CRAFTIVITY that is compatible with GOOGLE SLIDES, click here.
