This is an anchor chart to help students learn how to use context clues while reading unfamiliar words. This was a skill that many of my students struggled with, so I came up with something cute to grab their attention and really have them read for meaning and look for details and hints while reading. This is an entirely original product made for my current group of 3rd graders. I used this as an anchor chart during our ELA/Reading Block to encourage students to use context clues when they come across an unfamiliar word. I shrunk this to 85% to fit into my students’ composition books for them to keep as a reference tool. This skill is directly correlated to ELA Common Core Standards for 3rd grade.
