This puzzle helps students practice their context clues skills. It also teaches them the meanings of terms popularly used on standardized tests.
Print out the puzzle sheet. Cut on the lines and bundle the puzzle pieces together in a baggie or with paper clips. (I made 18 of these so that my students can work in groups of two.) Have your students work individually or in groups of 2 to match the words in bold with their definitions/synonyms. When they finish, they can raise their hands and you can check to see that everything was matched correctly.
The kids love this challenge!
Print this out on card stock or on colorful paper and use it year after year.
