I created this resource to challenge my middle school students in practicing context clue skills. Context clues are so important in determining the meaning of unknown words and are essential for standardized testing.
To create these task cards, I used the 7th grade sat word list. In this resource, you have 25 numbered task cards, an answer key, and a student answer sheet.

Context Clues Task Card Bundle
There are so many ways to use task cards in your classroom. The possibilities are endless but here are a few ideas.
Display one task card at a time using a document camera and allow students to answer on whiteboards or paper. You can model how to use context clue skills.
Place task cards in stations and have students rotate through the stations to answer the task cards.
Create a scavenger hunt and place cards in different locations around the room. Students will “hunt” all of the task cards until they have an answer for every card.
Use these task cards as bell ringers each day. Have students complete a different card each day.
Play a game of scoot with your students. Place one card at each desk. Have students answer the card on their desk and when you say “scoot” (or any other word you like), students move to the next desk. Keep going until students are back to their original seat.
Be sure to print your task cards on cardstock and laminate them so you can use them for years to come.
