Product Description
This set of 32 task cards are designed to provide students an opportunity to practice using context clues to identify the meaning of unknown words. Students read the sentence(s), and use context clues to determine the meaning of the underlined word. Words include: disdain, punctual, angler, herald, voucher, secluded, scarce, commence, and toil.

This resource includes two formats! With your purchase, you gain access to TWO resources with the same content. You get to choose the option that best fits the needs of your students!

Printable Format
Students read the task card and record their answer on the recording sheet.
BONUS - In addition to the basic answer sheet format, there is also an optional worksheet/activity to help further engage students as they work through the task cards. Students record their answers on a themed worksheet asking "Which detective will use the clues to solve the case first?" Once they have recorded all their answers, students tally their A, B, C, and D answers to reveal the winning detective!

These can be used for independent practice as part of a center, or students can do the popular scoot activity to complete the task cards with a partner. (I place each card at a different location throughout the classroom. Each student goes to a different task card. I set the timer for 30 seconds. Students determine their answer, and record their answer on their recording sheet. When the timer sounds, students rotate - or scoot - to the next card. This continues until they have "scooted their way through all of the task cards!)

Interactive Format
This version is paperless! They are part of the new Boom Learning platform. Students just need an iPad or a computer, and they can complete these task cards online. They are even self-checking!

Check out the PREVIEW to access a playable link which will allow you to experience four of these self-checking task cards firsthand! If you haven't experienced task cards in this format, I highly recommend that you check it out! It's super engaging and very unique!
