Each section of
this flipbook-
• defines the type of context clue
• lists key words that signal that particular type of clue
• gives an example of the context clue
• provides practice with determine the meaning of words using the context clues
The back of the flipbook also includes a matching activity for a quick check, formative assessment, or exit slip.

A classroom poster that identifies and defines the five types of context clues
A task card center activity to give students additional practice with determine word meaning using context clues. This activity is adaptable to students’ different cognitive levels. Words were selected from a Tier 2 Word list. I am currently working to add more task cards sets to attend to a 4th grade list and provide levels of difficulty with Tier 2 vocabulary. When added, these additions will be free to your original purchase.
A graphic organizer for students’ self-selected reading practice with unknown words
