Great help for ELL students!
Two Great Ways to Use This Product:
1. Make booklets for each student. Teach one skill at a time. Use the first page of each skill section to do with students, modeling how to think about the words in the sentence that provide clues to the unfamiliar word. Then assign the other practice pages for students to do with a partner or independently to show what they know. I spread this work out so that we focus on one skill for 1-2 weeks, depending upon the skill's complexity. Review pages should be completed independently. This will allow you to pick up on skills that need additional review. By the time you get to the end of the booklet, all of the skills will have been covered and spiraled several times. Be sure to use the front cover page, either as a wall poster or mini student cards, to continuously remind students to use these skills in all of the reading (small group reading, whole group reading, chapter book work, and/or reading at home).
2. Make copies of the worksheets each week as you introduce and teach each skill. Follow the same procedure as above.
