Product Description

Keep your students engaged with this NO PREP lesson activity. Begin with a YouTube video link showing earthquake destruction. Students will discuss why these events are so deadly. From there you will look at Alfred Wegener and how he supported his idea of continental drift (a forerunner to plate tectonics). Students will read, color and organize lesson concepts. Use the short nonfiction reading passages to help students learn while they work. A recorded lesson presentation link is included for students who miss. If you would rather "flip the lesson" the video links make this easy. A Pangaea Google Sort is included to help students experience what it was like to develop Wegener's theory. These activities will supplement any lesson or style of teaching. They can also be used as standalone reinforcement, homework or IEP accommodation (providing guided notes or 1 to 1 recording as a support). Each activity is focused on specific content objective associated with continental drift. Note: This product was tested and created for a mainstreamed middle school class that meets 5 days a week for forty minutes. If you complete all activities back to back it will take one class period. If you are interested in the reinforcement portions of the lessons, they can be found at the links below.
