Included in this unit is:

* 1 C-O-N-T-I-N-E-N-T-S Flip-Flap Book® - The students will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned about seven continents. This book is to be used as an EXTENSION and/or expository writing resource to your lessons on the world and the seven continents. This resources can also be used as an independent research project for your students at the culmination of your unit of study.

They will:
- write the names of the seven continents
- write the names of the 5 oceans and find them on a map
- research Australia {the weather, Great Barrier Reef, landforms,
type of plant life, and two interesting animals}
- research Antarctica {the weather, glaciers, landforms, antarctic
ice sheet, and two interesting animals}
- research Europe {weather, famous places, landforms, rivers
plants/trees, and countries and languages}
- research South America {weather, famous places, landforms,
rivers, plants/trees, and countries and languages}
- research North America {weather, famous places, landforms,
rivers, plants/trees, and countries and languages and label the 3
bordering oceans}
- research Asia {weather, famous places, landforms,
rivers, plants/trees, animals, and countries and languages and
label the 3 bordering oceans}
- research Africa{weather, famous places, landforms,
rivers, plants/trees, and countries and languages and label the 2
bordering oceans and the Mediterranean Sea}
- write a paragraph about one of the continents they researched
and include a topic sentence, five supporting details using their
fact map, and a conclusion. They will draw a picture of their
continent and draw and label important landforms and bodies
of water.
- label a world map by coloring and making a map key for the
seven continents and 5 oceans.
