Contraction Puzzles and Assessments for Winter

The purpose of the Contraction Puzzles with a winter theme, is to give students a way to practice this skill with manipulatives.

The students can use the easiest puzzles first, the ones with a winter shape, to help them gain confidence in their skill.

The second set of cards can be differentiated by contraction family. It will help them with learning the connection between the two words that make up a contraction with the actual contraction word.

Winter Contraction Puzzles has two formats.

One set of 58 puzzles has the students matching the winter shapes to form the matching contraction to the two words that make that contraction.

The second set of 58 puzzles involves students matching the contraction hat to the two mittens with the contraction words. These cards are coded with the same color background for each different contraction family.

The two games equal 116 different puzzles for the students to utilize in learning their contractions.
