Description

This contractions unit includes everything you need to teach contractions! From mini-lessons to no prep printables to center activities to journals to assessment, I got you covered! In fact, I made sure to make it overflow with more than you need to teach contractions, so you have options to pull from for students who need extra review. I also included a writing project activity that will move students from foundational knowledge with contractions to higher level thinking.

Includes:

•Overview with objectives to aid you with any formal lesson plans you will need to turn into your school

•Mini-lesson on contractions with guided models and student applications

•Anchor Chart with examples of contractions in color and black and white (You can print it or project the pdf!)

•Optional projectable student application sentences (These are also located on the mini-lesson and can be written on a dry erase board if you don't have access to a projector. You simply just project the pdf.)

•Student reference cards in color and black & white

•Graphic organizer to collect contractions while reading

•Task Cards in color and black and white with recording sheet

•Boa contractions center activity cards with recording sheets

•11 No Prep Printables including a reading comprehension passage

•Interactive Notebook Entry (optional, of course!)

•Journal Entry (2 options!)

•Writing Project with teacher and student rubrics (with regular lined and handwriting lined options)

•Quick Check

•Assessment (2 options)

This resource is geared just for second grade and covers the following Common Core standard: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.2.2.C - Use an apostrophe to form contractions and frequently occurring possessives.

A note about this resource for contractions: This comes in non-editable pdf. Sorry, I can not offer this editable due to copyright restrictions by some of the clip artists. Thank you for your understanding.
