Product Description
4 Sets of Contractions Games: 12 Contractions Per Set: Students match contractions to the words from which they are made.

★ 48 Pairs (Contractions & Their Components)

★ Optional Contractions Awards are included

Aligned to Common Core State Standards
Conventions of Standard English
• • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.2.2c Use an apostrophe to form contractions and frequently occurring possessives.

TO PLAY:
Decide which contractions your students need to study. Sort the cards into groups of 24 (12 pairs). You can do this by sorting according to the backings.

Turn cards face down in 4 rows of 6.
Students take turns flipping the cards over until they have a matching pair (a contraction and its component parts)
Students keep each pair of contractions and their components they make until all the cards are taken.
Whoever has the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.

Optional Contractions Recording Sheets – I have included 4 recording sheets so that if you choose, you can ask students to write the contractions they match. There is one recording sheet to match each set of contraction cards.

Contractions Champion Certificate – This can be completed for a student who has played all 4 of the contraction games.

★To print out back to back (or just print out as is):

1. First print pages 1-10 Set the directions and promotional pages aside.

2. Now place all of the contraction sheets face up and facing you in the printer paper tray.

3. Next, print pages 11-18. Four different styles of Pencil Face Graphics will be printed on the backside of each sheet so that all you need to do is cut the sheets into square cards on the paper cutter. 4 distinct backings will help you keep the 4 games separated.

4. Pages 19-26 are the 8 optional recording sheets if you’d like your students to write the contractions and their components. Four sheets are in color to laminate and use erasable pens. Four sheets are in black and white for students to use pencil.

5. Page 27 is the contraction reference pages, a color coded answer key for your students.

6. Pages 28 and 29 are 2 Contraction Champion Awards in color and black and white.
(If you prefer, you can simply print out the entire file at once, and then glue the Pencil Face backing pieces to the plain side of the contraction cards. )
