Learning Objective

Given two words, students will generate the contraction. Given a contraction, students will identify the two words that form the contraction.

This engaging activity puts a fun spin on learning contractions! It also makes a creative bulletin board or school hallway display! It can even be used as a valuable addition to your students' interactive notebooks!

I created this product for the third grade teachers at my recent school who asked me to create some engaging contraction activities for their students. I know that contractions can be especially challenging for ELLs so I created these around the "karate kid" image, and I ask students to think of forming contractions as "kicking out" letters.

There are TWO VERSIONS so that this can be used with multiple grade levels and/or to help provide differentiation!

Students begin by completing the worksheet where they form contractions from the underlined words. Then they choose two contractions to use in their craftivity! There are two worksheets in this packet- you can choose the one that best fits the needs of your students.

Check the preview to take a peek at all of the pages included in this craftivity!
