Use these 32 apostrophe task cards to reinforce this important skill. Each card requires students to both write the word correctly (by adding the apostrophe), and to tell whether the word is a contraction or a possessive noun. Because the focus of this set is distinguishing between contractions and possessives, only singular possessives were used.
A student answer sheet and an answer key is included, as well as three Challenge Cards which can be used to extend the activity. These task cards are perfect for test prep and will work well at literacy centers, stations, for partner work, or with the whole class using a game like Scoot.
The cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring.
