Convection Current Foldable
The best way to use this resource is to be a reference on how convection currents in the ocean work, flowing from cold to warm and warm to cold in a cyclical motion. With my experience, middle schoolers have a hard time visualizing the constant movement that our world is experiencing. Pull a ocean map from online of the ocean convection currents and have them color the temperature (red or blue) that the arrows direction would be, signifying that those currents tend to be warm or cold, but don't stay that way because they are in continuous motion!
I work with ELL students and the visual of the circular arrows are incredibly helpful with helping them understand how convection currents work. I paired this with talking about how the tilt of the Earth affects our seasons and the movement of the Earth's ocean currents as well.
