This is a writing mini-lesson on conventions. There are two great activities to use as you practice conventions with your students. One page offers a table showing incorrect sentences and how they are corrected. Students have to highlight the corrections that were made. It also offers an imaginative story without paragraph indenting. Students need to find where new paragraphs should be started. The second page gives a personal narrative and asks students to make editing marks to correct capitalization, punctuation, grammar, spelling, and paragraph indenting mistakes. Then, they must rewrite the story on the lines provided. This is great to use as independent practice, during centers, or even as buddy work.
