No matter what our age, we all like to receive compliments. Students may want to complement each other, but sometimes lack the necessary vocabulary to do so. Whether students have pragmatic difficulties or are just learning how to compliment, these conversation hearts can provide scaffolding to help students learn the needed vocabulary.
The conversation hearts can be posted around a therapy room to give visual reminders, or used as visuals during a group game, therapy activity, or other task. To help promote generalization, these compliments focus on more generic sayings that students can use with peers rather than complimenting attributes of a specific student. Blank hearts have been provided so that SLPs and students can generate the kinds of compliments that fit best with their age and peer group. Enjoy!
