Conversation Starter Topic Cards was created for all students, Preschool to Elementary Ages, although I have received feedback that these have been used for students with special needs of older ages.
These topic cards support social skills, specifically social language and reciprocal language skills. They are designed to teach and support two way communication skills for students with pragmatic language delays, expressive language delays, attentional deficits, social skill deficits or even social/emotional challenges. They were originally created for students on the autistic spectrum.
This set includes:
6 PAGES of questions: total of 54 questions (9 per page) with simple text and icons.
One Story about Wondering About Others, to set the stage for why we ask questions.
It helps students understand how asking questions can help us learn cool things about each other. (We both love...!)
One page with visual cues to help your students reciprocate, or say something back ( a skill that usually lacks). It includes 3 main prompts: Say something back, Ask a question back, make a comment.
One page with blank cells to individualize your own questions, or questions your students think of.
One page of blank cells for Saying Something Back.
One page of blank speaking bubbles, to customize comments. You can actually create your own 'social scripts' to teach students exactly what to say.
