Are you looking for resources to help your elementary students have meaningful conversations and discussions? My colleagues and I are as well. We are interested in students having discussions and conversations in all subjects in meaningful ways. We also know that some students need extra supports and scaffolding to be full participants in these conversations and discussions.
This is a packet some colleagues and I came up with to help our students have deep and meaningful conversations and discussions from kindergarten all the way through 5th grade. I'm sure they could be used for older grades as well.
If you are working on depth of knowledge and having quality conversations and discussions in your classroom this is the packet for you.
This set include many printables you can use to help students know how to enter a conversation and/or discussion and share meaningful insights. There are sentence starter cards for student who have trouble entering a conversation and those who may stray off topic. We also have some cards which help younger students stay focused on the conversation and topic.
I have also included anchor charts from my growth mindset classroom, a kindergarten classroom, a 2nd/3rd grade classroom and a 5th grade classroom to show you ways you can support student conversations and discussions at all levels.
These are resources that are having wonderful results in improving conversations in our classrooms.
These are lessons that can help foster strong conversations and discussions as well as a growth mindset in elementary classrooms.
