Conversions or Dimensional Analysis Lab for Chemistry

Conversions or Dimensional Analysis Lab for Chemistry
Product Description
This activity/lab is designed for pre-AP chemistry, but would not be inappropriate for pre-AP physics. Students convert metric to metric for measuring a line with a ruler, measuring volume with a graduated cylinder, and converting celcius to kelvin for a temperature. They then use dimensional analysis to determine what mass of sugar to measure out to have a certain number of molecules and determine the number of atoms of zin coating a small paper clip. Students will use balances for the last two parts.

Keywords: dimensional analysis, factor label, conversion, metric, graduated cylinder, balance, molar mass, atomic weight, measure, error, uncertainty.
