Students need to compare fractions, decimals and percents, and plot rational numbers on a number line.
This all starts with converting fractions to decimals! Recognizing common fraction and decimal equivalents and understanding terminating and repeating decimals are requisite skills.
In this sorting activity, students cut out 16 sorting cards. Half of the fractions convert to terminating decimals, and half convert to repeating decimals. Students must sort the cards and attach them on the chart, under the appropriate heading.
Student are required to provide justifications for at least two questions in each category.
These sorting activities are quick, fun, simple ways to help students estalish the basic skills they need before take on more complex tasks.
