This activity is aligned with Common Core Standard 7.EE.3 with an emphasis on conversion between decimals, percentages, and fractions.
Before using this activity, I reviewed with my students how to convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages.
In this activity, students read 3-6 short facts about March Madness basketball games. They then use these facts in order to answer a series of questions that requires conversion between fractions, decimals, and percentages. It is a fun activity that brings sports and March Madness into the math classroom!
This activity took my students about 30-45 minutes. I did not allow calculators. If calculators were allowed, it would have taken closer to 25-30 minutes.
