Product Description
This simulation lesson was inspired by the book Slavery by Another Name by Douglas A. Blackmon; if you haven't read it, I strongly recommend it! Additionally, there is a PBS documentary that would serve as a great follow-up resource for students to dive deeper into this topic. This lesson will:
- Immerse your students into what life was like during the convict-lease system
- Engage students in a lively discussion as they reflect on their experiences
- Give students a sense of injustice that simply cannot be felt reading about, or even viewing a program on, the convict-lease system
