This is a great activity for your small groups or parent volunteers!
There are 4 different levels in this set. Math facts with sums 0-20 have been divided into 4 groups: 0-5; 5-10; 10-15; and 15-20. There are several “monster” cards for each level, but you could use the same monsters for each level. There are probably WAY more monsters than needed, but you can adjust how many you put in the container based on how many sight words you include. Each set is labeled Math 0-5 +, Math 0-10 +, Math 10-15 +, or Math 15-20 + to help with organization when you find a random card under a bookshelf.
Choose which level you want to start with. There are 4 levels to pick from.
Print, laminate and cut out the word cards and a few monsters cards. I usually include about 3-5 monster cards.
Place math fact cards and monsters in container. (I’ve used a recycled Clorox wipe container or cute containers from the Dollar Store or Target.)
How to play:
1. Once the fact cards and monster cards are in the container, students can choose one card out of the container. No peeking!
2. The student should read the math fact AND say the answer.
3. If a student gets a card with a “cookie monster” they have to put ALL their fact cards back in the container.
Hope you enjoy it!
