My students absolutely LOVE this game! They beg to play it everyday!!!! It's also a great center for parent volunteers.
There are 4 different levels in this set. The Fry’s Top 100 sight words have been divided into four groups with 25 words in each group. There are probably WAY more monsters than needed, but you can adjust how many you put in the container based on how many sight words you include. Each set is labeled 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4 to help with organization when you find a random card under a bookshelf. ;)
Choose which level you want to start with. There are 4 levels to pick from.
Print, laminate and cut out the word cards and a few monsters cards. I usually include about 3-5 monster cards.
Place sight word cards and monsters in container. (I’ve used a recycled Clorox wipe container or cute containers from the Dollar Store or Target.)
How to play:
1. Once the word cards and monster cards are in the container, students can choose one word out of the container. No peeking!
2. The student should read the word on the card.
3. If a student gets a card with a “cookie monster” they have to put ALL their word cards back in the container.
