I created this packet to give my second graders some extra practice in a fun and tasty way! This could also be used in first and third grade.
I used cookie-themed books including a version of "The Gingerbread Boy" and "The Gingerbread Baby". I also used other gingerbread books and found some versions on You Tube to get into the theme. Students will observe a cookie, write adjectives, write simple and compound sentences, and write cookie-themed narratives.
In this packet you will find:
-A sheet for recounting a story. (There's enough room for four important events.)
-Two observation sheets to choose from. Students draw a picture of their cookie and use the five senses to write adjectives and words that describe their observations.
-Two sentence-writing sheets. The first asks students to use their observation sheet to write six expanded simple sentences about their cookie. The second uses those simple sentences to write three compound sentences.
-A story starter with a cookie theme.
-Two sheets that can be used as either story maps or retelling graphic organizers. I used them as both.
-Three covers for a cookie story. Two are for retelling "The Gingerbread Boy" and "The Gingerbread Baby". The other is generic.
-A lined sheet for publishing.
I hope you enjoy this packet!
Thank you so much for downloading.
