This is a fun way to introduce addition. The main focus is that two parts equal a whole. Students are given the whole, and then they are to break it into two parts.
This can be used small group or as an independent math center! Students are to use this sheet to find different ways to make the numbers 6-10. They are to take the whole, and color some of them one color and the other another color to show two parts. They will see how to break one whole into two parts. They will then record their findings on their paper. They will put the number of the first part, then the second part, then add them together to find the whole. This is a great way to find the different ways to make a number!
