These Cooperative Learning Desk Tags are the easiest, most effective way to help students know exactly who to work with during partner and group activities!
What's Included and Setup: You will be able to use these desk tags year after year! I've included desk tags for up to 6 table groups with 4-6 students at each table. Each table is a different color, including blue, green, red, yellow, purple, and orange so you are able to refer to each table by table number or color. Print, laminate, cut, and stick on the inside corner of your desks. I use Velcro to stick them on so they can easily be moved, if needed. I've also included a diagram of possible desk layouts and how the partnerships work at each layout.
Ways to Implement: Teach students who their "shoulder partner" and "face partner" is during the first week of school. They will quickly get into a routine. When completing a partner activity you might say, "Turn and talk with your shoulder partner. Partner B goes first". Students will quickly know exactly who to work with and there will be no arguing about who goes first. When doing a group activity you may tell students which number goes first like this, "Share with your group something you learned from the text. Partner 3 goes first". I also love using the numbers to name a student who will collect their group's papers to turn in like this, "Pass your papers to person number 2 and then bring them to me".
Have fun managing your cooperative learning activities!
