This is a PowerPoint lesson (or series of lessons) on cooperative learning strategies. Cooperative Learning Structures (or Strategies) are research-based and proven to increase student engagement as well as class participation and overall learning. In this PPT, II compare this kind of learning to traditional teaching and explain multiple cooperative structures. There are also hyperlinks that lead to more explanations of cooperative structures and cooperative learning. This PPT could be used to teach several lessons on cooperative structures, but it could also be given to students to learn or review the structures. I wrote it for ESL students, but it could be used for any middle/secondary level students. These structures are, of course, best learned if a teacher has students DO the structures soon after learning about them. :) Alternately, you could use this PPT if you are doing professional development and showing teachers how to use these strategies. I do have a series of PPTs for ESL/ELL students on all different topics, so be sure to check out all of them!
