For many years, the Bear in the Bathtub has sailed the seven seas in search of wondrous and mysterious lands. When he is on the ocean, a large white sail carries him gently across the waves. When he reaches land, however, four wheels pop out of the sides of his bathtub enabling him to travel across any terrain with ease.
The Bear in the Bathtub never, ever leaves his tub (which is why he is called "The Bear in the Bathtub.") And if, by some lucky chance, you are able to sneak up on him and shave him, you would find that his skin is as wrinkly as an old shriveled raisin from being in the bath water so long.
Even better, though, "The Bear in the Bathtub" offers students a rather unique and novel way to practice letter/number coordinate pairs on a grid.
Included in this packet are 3 detailed maps (please see thumbnails) of the Bear in the Bathtub's world, each with its own double-sided question/answer reproducible worksheet containing a variety of question types. In addition, there is also an answer key for all three worksheets.
I've also included 3 alternate versions of the same maps, rendered in limited color/black and white so as to produce sharper copies on black and white copy machines. If you can print the maps in color, I would suggest doing so. They look very cool, and the kids love them. If not, though, don't worry about it. The children will enjoy completing each printable worksheet just the same.
Finally, there is also a handout to briefly introduce the Bear in the Bathtub to your children.
Whether beginning a unit on coordinate pairs or reviewing / preparing for a standardized test, "The Bear in the Bathtub" will teach your children the foundations of coordinate pairs - while bringing a smile to their faces at the same time. Yes, learning can, indeed, be fun! (Don't let anybody tell you otherwise!)
I thank you for taking the time to preview this product and hope you are able to put it to good use. Moreover, I hope it provides some benefit and enjoyment to your students.
