This is a great activity to help students review the coordinate plane. It promotes higher thinking and collaborative learning. I have students work in pairs to sort/match up the cards. A hint for students, depending on the level, is that there should be six groups with four cards each. You can easily eyeball the cards to see if students are on the right track. I have my students complete this without notes or a coordinate plane visual, but you can choose what works best for your classroom.
If you don't want to take the time to cut out the cards, you can have students use colored pencils to code. Each color represents the same quadrant (so 6 colors, 4 in each color).
