How many of your students make these cootie catchers? I know...mine do too! So, I believe...if you can't beat them, join them! I have made a set of Cootie Catchers for a few key concepts in reading!
These are easy to assemble, include instructions right on the page, and are gaurenteed to excite your students!
Vocabulary Cootie Catcher with Task Sheet
Reader's Response Cootie Catcher with Task Sheet
Fiction Cootie Catcher with Task Sheet
Non-Fiction Cootie Catcher with Task Sheet
Poetry Cootie Catcher with Task Sheet
Never used these or don't even know what they are? Here are a few ideas I included in the product.
Whole Group: Give these to the students after you finish a text, poem, or to learn vocabulary words. The students can make them, then partner up to use them!
Centers: Place Cootie Catcher and Task Sheet in the center with a book, poem, or vocabulary words. Have the students create the cootie catcher, then partner up (or do independently) the task sheet!
Homework: I know we hate that word, but what better way to make reading and vocabulary fun? Send these home at the beginning of the week and have students use them all week while reading or doing vocabulary at home!
You can use these any way you like, that is what I love about these things! The kids already make them, even when we don’t want them to :), we might as well add some learning to the mix!
