Do you find that your students sometimes struggle to cope? Sometimes even with the most common of tough feelings? This Coping Skills Lesson was created to help address the lack of small, basic coping skills for middle school students. It should be set up as a fun “station” style activity, possibly in a larger classroom, cafeteria, gym, or even outdoor space.
The lesson starts with the overview powerpoint that covers the information of what coping skills are, why students are learning them, and then an overview of the stations. Then, in groups of 2-4, students will try out each coping activity for 3 minutes to help figure out what might or might not work for them when they need it most. Fair warning: there are definitely supplies needed for this to be fun and successful! To save money, this could be used with a small group instead of as classroom guidance.
