Use this free coping strategies 30-day challenge to introduce new coping strategies to kids and young adults every day for a full month! Students will be introduced to coping strategies and why they are important. Then, students will practice one strategy per day. After performing that activity, students will mark it down on their calendar and rate how effective it was for them.

The resource include educator directions, a student worksheet, a student calendar, list of coping strategies, and a journal to help students reflect about each strategy along the way.

Note that you can choose whether to pick each strategy or allow students to independently pick each day.

Why Teach Coping Strategies

Coping strategies are activities and tasks that kids and young adults can perform to help reduce feelings of anger, anxiety, stress, and sadness. It's important that kids must practice coping strategies when they are calm in order to benefit from them when they are overwhelmed with emotions.

Once students learn which strategies work best for them and practice them several times, they will be able to use those skills when they become angry, sad, anxious, or upset.
